Earlier this year, representatives from MINI confirmed the production version of the Paceman Concept will be renamed the Countryman Coupe. The company now appears to have performed a u-turn by announcing the model will in fact retain the Paceman name.

The three-door version of the MINI Countryman crossover will be almost identical to the concept, albeit with a few minor modifications to the rear end styling.

The engine line-up is likely to mimic its four-door sibling which would unfortunately rule out the powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that the Paceman concept was presented with. It's likely the engine will be saved for the high performance JCW (John Cooper Works) version that should arrive on our roads in 2014.

The production ready MINI paceman is expected to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September before going on sale in 2013.
