Infiniti wants a halo model and many of us assumed it would be a production version of the Emerg-E concept.

The company previously hinted at this possibility and has already announced plans to showcase a running prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, Car & Driver says the model might not be able to deliver the performance that is expected from a halo sports car.

In light of this revelation, the magazine says the brand is still considering a production version of the Essence concept.  It featured a twin-turbo 3.7-liter V6 engine and an electric motor which enabled the car to have a combined output of 600 PS (441 kW / 592 hp) - 192 PS (141 kW / 189 hp) more than the Emerg-E.
