General Motors has announced the Astra Range which resides under the Opel and Vauxhall brands has received a few upgrades for the new model year. The five-door hatch and Sports Tourer have received a few cosmetic updates while the GTC has benefited from a new BiTurbo diesel engine.
The Hatch and Sports Tourer have received an updated design that includes a front fascia featuring a new grille with a re-positioned logo and a remodeled bumper. The rear bumper has also been modestly updated and now features a chrome strip running horizontally from one side to the other.
The Astra GTC meanwhile has benefited from a 2.0 BiTurbo engine that produces 195PS (143kW/192hp) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque. It is the most powerful non-VXR/non-OPC model in the Astra range and allows the GTC to accelerate from 0-100kph(0-62mph) in 7.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 139mph(224kph).
The upgraded models will maintain the same prices as the existing models they replace. Dealerships will begin taking orders from today with the first deliveries scheduled for September.
