To celebrate the opening of BMW i Park Lane, BMW has introduced an updated i3 concept.
Based on the original, the updated version features a revamped interior with renewable materials. Highlights include eucalyptus wood trim and wool / naturally-tanned leather seats.
Motivation is provided by an electric motor that produces 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp) and 250 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than eight seconds and hit a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph).
BMW also unveiled the new i Pedelec concept. It features a foldable, aluminum and carbon fiber frame which enables two of them to be stored in the i3's boot.
Power comes from a 42V lithium-manganese battery which turns an electric hub motor that produces 250 W and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) of torque. It assists the rider at speeds up to 25 km/h (16 mph) for a range of 25 - 40 kilometers (16 - 25 miles). When the battery is depleted, it can be fully recharged in 1.5 hours with a rapid charger or 4 hours with a household outlet.
