Audi has confirmed plans to launch the A3 sedan in the United States later this year.

Previewed by a concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the entry-level model will ride on the MQB platform and feature styling that is heavily influenced by the hatchback.

Engine options remain unconfirmed, but possible candidates include a 1.8-liter TFSI with 180 PS (132 kW / 177 hp) and a 2.0-liter TFSI with 211 PS (155 kW / 208 hp).

Given the timing of the car's launch, look for a possible unveiling at the Paris or Los Angeles Auto Show.
