The Audi A4 dimensions have grown so much over the past couple of decades that it has left a gap in their German premium brand's portfolio. Development plans are now afoot on bringing an A3 sedan to the market and here is a rendering that speculates what the final model may look like.

Audi previewed the production model at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 with the A3 sedan concept. While we would prefer the styling to be retained, it was perhaps a bit too aggressive and will be toned down by the time it is unveiled. However, we could see it make a comeback in the high performance RS version.

The engine range will comprise of both diesel and petrol units and there is also talk of both a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid being produced as well.

Expect to see the A3 sedan in dealerships in 2013 following its world debut towards the end of this year.
