Designed to make driving less stressful, the system uses a lightweight roof-mounted camera and an AMOLED display.
Audi has announced their R18 LMP sports prototype has been outfitted with a digital rear-view mirror.
Designed to make driving less stressful, the system uses a lightweight roof-mounted camera. It sends images to an AMOLED display that is located in the same place where a rear-view mirror would reside.
According to Audi's Head of Motorsports, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, "For the new digital mirror, we worked out various day and night driving modes. Even when a rival approaches from the rear with high-beam headlights the image is superb and not just a glaring light spot."
Audi has already tested the system on R8 prototypes and it will be used for the first time on the R18 at the 24 Hours Le Mans.
