Lexus are ambitiously expanding their line-up in an attempt to retake top-spot as the best selling premium brand in the US and the latest development confirms our previous report.
The first rumors of a coupe variant for the GS line-up first surfaced a little under a year ago. Very little has been heard since then, but new details have now arrived on the webosphere saying the model is penciled in to arrive in dealerships during the first quarter of 2013.
Lexus is ambitiously expanding their line-up in an attempt to retake top-spot as the best selling premium brand in the US and the latest development backs up our previous report. The model will fill the void left by the SC 430 that ended production in July 2010 and will compete against the Audi S5, BMW 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe.
The powertrain options for the performance sedan would naturally be inherited from the existing GS range, but the top performing GS450h may not be enough with its 338 hp (252 kW / 343 PS). Therefore speculators have stated the coupe variant will arrive exclusively as the GS-F with an upgraded engine that is based on the LFA's 4.8-liter V10 unit.
Pricing for the GS Coupe is expected to start at around €60,000 - $70,000.
