Martin Scorsese has announced he will produce Silver Ghost, a film that chronicles the lives of the names behind the formation of Rolls-Royce.

The producer/director was behind films such as The Departed, Goodfellas and Taxi Driver and he will now lend his expertise alongside Lord Richard Attenborough and Anthony Haas.

It focuses on the lives of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce who founded the world famous brand in 1906 as well as Lord John Douglas-Scott Montagu, a British MP that campaigned on behalf of motorists.

The script has been penned by Kiera Knightley's mum, Sharman Macdonald and Christian Bale is rumored to be in line to take a starring role in the film as Lord Montagu.

According to IMBD, Silver Ghost is due to be released during 2013.
