Toyota has launched the Pixis Epoch in Japan.
Set to be sold alongside the Pixis Space, the Epoch is the company's second Daihatsu-based minicar. It features a basic design and measures 3395mm long, 1475mm wide and 1500mm tall.
The entry-level model is sparsely equipped, but higher-end variants can be ordered with automatic air conditioning and a navigation system. While the interior doesn't look very accommodating, Toyota says there's "plenty of space for four adults."
Power comes from a 600cc engine that produces 52 PS (38 kW / 51 hp) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a continuously variable transmission which can be backed up by an optional all-wheel drive system. In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average up to 30.0 km/L (70.5 mpg US / 3.3 L/100km) with CO2 emissions of 77 g/km.
The Pixis Epoch is currently on sale and pricing starts at 795,000 yen ($9,975 / €7,670).
