Maserati has ambitious plans to increase their annual sales to 50,000 units and new details are starting to emerge about the products that could make that happen.
According to a recent report, Maserati CEO Harald Wester has revealed the company is considering a mid-engined coupe which could be launched as early as 2015. While details are limited, the model could be called the Grand Sport and be based on the Alfa Romeo 4C.
As such, the car would likely feature a carbon fiber or aluminum chassis as well as a 4.7-liter V8 engine which would be mated to a dual-clutch transmission.
If everything goes according to plan, the sports car would be priced less than €150,000 ($199,000 / £123,000) and Maserati would build 1500-2000 units annually.
