Caterham has announced plans to deliver the first production SP/300.R to U.S. distributor and American Le Mans Series LMP1 team Dyson Racing.
Designed to be used as a demonstrator model, the first production car has been "manufactured to specifications appropriate" for the U.S. market. While the company declined to elaborate, the Euro-spec model has an aluminum monocoque chassis, a polyurethane body and a roll cage. Other highlights include an adjustable coil-over suspension, AP Racing brakes and a Momo steering wheel with integrated display.
Power is provided by a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 305 PS (224 kW / 301 hp) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).
