Industrial intellectual property firm 500 Group in collaboration with the GrabCAD community have organized the Supercar Body Challenge competition which aims to find a car body design for a supercar currently undergoing testing in the UK and scheduled for a 2013 launch.

At the moment, the competition is winding down its submission round, but still needs votes for another two weeks. With more than 180 design entries, the winners of the Supercar Body Challenge will be chosen based on "likes" received to the contestant models which are on display in the GrabCAD community. The only step to vote is registering with the community.

The supercar itself is developed under a General Motors special-projects supply agreement where only GM performance parts and hardware are used. As a result, the supercar prototype has access to GM's V8 line of E-Rod LS3, LS7 and mighty 638hp supercharged LS9 engines.

Prizes include $3500 in cash as well as the possibility of additional work and invitations to select test locations in Europe, North Africa and the USA. Most of all, the competition presents the opportunity to help create a significant new automobile.
