After years of disappointing sales, Mercedes spokesman Chrisitan Bokich has confirmed the R-Class will be discontinued in the United States.

Speaking with Motoramic, Bokich said U.S. sales have shrunk "to the extent that we can no longer make the business case for continuing to offer the R-Class." While the spokesperson downplayed the move, he pointed out that the company already offers three popular crossovers: the GLK, M-Class and GL-Class.

Despite the end of U.S. sales, the R-Class is expected to stay in production until 2015.
