Following yesterday's spy photos of the Renault Zoe electric vehicle, a photo of the production version completely uncovered has been published on Danish site FDM.dk. The photo shows the vehicle on a display turntable possibly for a private media or dealer preview event that FDM attended.
Looking almost identical to the Zoe concept that debuted in Paris 2010, we can see the production version has lost its flashy concept treatments such as the streamlined mirrors, LED headlamps and grille for more conventional units.
Citing the Zoe product manager in Sweden, FDM says the Zoe is built on a newly developed chassis dedicated for electric powertrain. The lithium-ion batteries are placed in the floor for a low center of gravity as well as facilitating quick battery changes.
Expected to outsell the Renault Fluence ZE electric vehicle by a large margin, the Zoe electric is approximately 4m long, 1.6m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.55m.
Charging can be done in three ways: overnight slow charge, 30 minute quick charge up to 90 percent or a complete battery replacment which reportedly takes minutes. Unconfirmed range is 150km (93mi).
In Denmark, FDM reports pricing is expected to be 165000-175000 Danish Krone (~22,190 - 23,535 euros) which does not include battery rental.
Following its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week, market launch will begin during the summer.
