Specialty sports car maker Melkus from Dresden Germany has announced the RS2000 Black Edition.
The RS2000 Black Edition features a custom piano lacquer finish paint job, as the company describes it, involving six layers of clearcoat. Typically, three layers is enough to give a deep shine, but six will make the surface look like liquid. Beyond the brilliant deep black finish the body receives the carbon sport bodykit from the RS2000 GTS model.
The interior features black leather seats and entry sills with "Black Edition" embroidery on the headrests while the roof headliner gets Alcantara material as well as numerous piano lacquer and carbon trim pieces throughout. There is also an infotainment/navigation system.
Using the standard RS2000 with either VW or Opel based two-liter turbo-engine producing 300 HP (221 kW / 296 bhp) with a 6-speed gearbox, the Black Edition gets a slight increase in power to 325 HP (239 kW / 321 bhp) in addition to a high-performance braking system.
The Melkus RS2000 Black Edition accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The car's top speed is 270 km/h (168 mph).
The basic price for a Melkus RS2000 Black Edition is 149,900 euro.
