Mercedes today released the first official shots of the interior for the brand new A-Class. They were revealed as the German auto maker were announcing the smart phone integration that will debut in the new model.

The interior appears to be getting a more retro look to it, a style that is normally better associated with cars such as the MINI Cooper or the Fiat 500. There is however a control interface that does appear more like the style of a premium vehicle.

The same engine options available for the B-Class are set to be adopted by its smaller sibling. This includes five petrol engines with between 109 PS (80 kW / 108 hp) to 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) as well as four diesels ranging from 122 PS (90 kW / 120 hp) to 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp).

Further down the line, AMG will introduce their own take on the new A-class with power drawn from a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with up to 355 PS (261 kW / 350 hp).

Upon launch the new A-Class will be a direct rival for the BMW 1-series and Audi A3 and is expected to be priced accordingly.
