At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot are due to unleash to the public their new 208. This will include both the three-door and five-door hatchbacks and they will also be joined by their high performance sibling - the 208 GTi which has been teased here today.

The single teaser image was released on the company's Facebook page and it shows the exhaust tips which boasts a much more aesthetically pleasing design to what we have seen in pre-production prototype spy photos. Perhaps the French manufacturer will start by unveiling a concept version before the production model?

Recent rumors suggest the 208 GTi will be powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that has been sourced from the BMW-owned MINI Cooper S. It generates 184 PS (135 kW / 181 hp) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque which should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than seven seconds.

Further down the line, Peugeot may also launch an even more potent model that will be named the 208 GTi Racing (GTi R). It will feature a more powerful powertrain that pumps out around 200 PS (147 kW / 197 hp).
