Mercedes-Benz Vans is bringing in 2019 with changes to its Vito and Sprinter commercial vehicle line-ups.
The Vito van, which is available in cargo- and passenger-carrying formats, is getting a new range of trim levels and equipment upgrades, while the larger Sprinter is getting a new off-road focused all-wheel-drive variant.

As of this month, all Vito models will get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever as standard, as well as automatic headlights and rear parking sensors.
All that will feature as standard even on the new entry-level model, which is badged ‘Pure’, to correspond with the X-Class trim nomenclature.

This ‘basic’ version will also get an Active Park Assist system, as well as electric door mirrors and an Audio 10 infotainment system.
The mid-range Progressive version, meanwhile, will add to the kit list with metallic paint, colour coded bumpers and full plastic wheel trims, as well as fog lights and an upgraded Audio 15 infotainment system.

Finally, at the top of the range, the Premium model gets air conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels and a reversing camera, not to mention the chrome grille and anti-theft protection package, which includes a double lock.
The number of engines on offer depends on the trim level, with the Pure offering a choice of three units. The basic 1.6-litre, 87 bhp 109 CDI is joined by the 113 bhp 111 CDI and the 2.1-litre, 134 bhp 114 CDI, which is there to offer customers across the range a choice of automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Progressive-spec vehicles, meanwhile, get the choice of every engine except the range-crowning 188 bhp 119 CDI, while the Premium model is limited to 2.1-litre engines, in the shape of the 114 CDI, 116 CDI and the 119 CDI powerplants.
As before, three lengths will be available, listed simply as L1, L2 and L3, rather than the previous Compact, Long and Extra-Long names.

Prices start from £20,630+VAT (£24,756 inc. VAT) for the basic Pure 109 CDI L1 Panel Van model, and rise to more than £35,500+VAT for the range-topping Premium 119 CDI L3 Crew Van variant.
Steve Bridge, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, said: “We pride ourselves on keeping our customers’ businesses moving, and part of that is ensuring that the find the right vehicle for their needs. By introducing three distinct trim levels to Vito, we hope to provide a clear and consistent offering to van owners and operators so that they can compare our products and services to the competition and choose the best solution for them and their business.”

At the same time, Mercedes has also announced that its new four-wheel-drive Sprinter van enter series production in March, when it will be available for £37,540 plus VAT.
With a low-ratio gearbox and hill descent control, plus mud-and-slush tyres as standard, Mercedes says the new four-wheel-drive Sprinter is more capable than ever.
