According to a recent report, Mercedes will likely approve production of the SLC (aka the baby SLS).

Speaking with Autocar, AMG's Ola Källenius said "Could we grow the family? Probably, yes, but that is not a decision we've made at this stage." However, given the success of the SLS, he added "What is clear is that we have entered a segment with an overwhelming reaction from customers and fans - and many of them are entirely new customers to AMG - so it would certainly be the right strategy to grow the AMG brand."

As we have previously reported, the SLC could be launched in 2013 to battle the Porsche 911. Styling would likely be influenced by the SLS and the model could be offered as a coupe and convertible. Power would likely be provided by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine with up to 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS). This could enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of approximately 290 km/h (180 mph).
