Volkswagen's seven-seat crossover could be in jeopardy as the model is reportedly the focus of an intense internal debate.
According to Car and Driver, executives aren't convinced the crossover could be priced low enough to compete with vehicles like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot. Even if engineers were able to make the necessary cost cuts, not everyone believes the investment is worth it.
As we have previously reported, Volkswagen is considering a seven-seat crossover to slot beneath the Touareg which hasn't been terribly successful in the United States because of its premium price tag.
