Marking the final year for the current C6 generation, Chevrolet announced today the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition and the 60th Anniversary Package. Both vehicles will debut at the Barrett Jackson auction on Jan 21 followed by a market launch in early summer.
The Corvette 427 Convertible is described as the fastest and most-capable convertible in Corvette's history. Using the 427 cubic-inch 7.0-liter LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06, it delivers 505 hp (377 kW / 513 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque via a six-speed manual transmission only.
The 427 Convertible body features:
- Carbon fiber raised hood (introduced on the 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition)
- Carbon fiber Z06-style fenders
- Carbon fiber floor panels
- Lightweight machine-face Cup wheels with Michelin PS2 tires
- CFZ carbon fiber front splitter (optional)
- CFZ rocker panels (optional)
With reduced weight down to 3,355 pounds (1,522 kg) the 427 Convertible clocks 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds, lateral acceleration 1.04 g and top speed of more than 190 mph making it one of the fastest convertibles in the world.
The Corvette 60th Anniversary Package features an Arctic White exterior, blue leather interior, blue convertible top, ZR1 rear spoiler, special badging and optional racing stripes with convertible top
The 60th anniversary package will be available on all 2013 Corvettes including the 427 Convertible.
