Dodge performance division Mopar is getting ready to reveal the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline (based on R/T model) at the Detroit Auto Show later this month.
A comprehensive tuning and accessories package for the modern day muscle car, Mopar has created a stage 1 package for exterior and interior appearance and stage 2 for bolt-on performance. Stage 3 brings the overall progam full circle with crate engine swap.
Stage 1 exterior and interior components includes:
- Carbon fiber chin spoiler
- Two-piece grille with body-color painted-grille surround and black signature "crosshair" insert
- Large 20 x 8-inch Mopar Black Envy Wheels
- Carbon fiber door scoops with "R/T" badging
- Three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler
- Vinyl roof graphic in matte black
- Aluminum shift bezel
- Aluminum instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent
- Stainless steel pedal covers
Stage 2 bolt-on performance parts focus in handling and braking:
- cat-back performance exhaust system
- front-tower cross-brace with caps
- sport brake pads
Stage 3 is all about serious engine performance as the the standard 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine which outputs 370 hp (375 PS / 276 kW) is swapped out for Mopar's high-output version of the Gen III 426 (7.0-liter) HEMI V-8 crate engine which produces 590 hp (598 PS / 440 kW) and is 100 lbs. (45 kg) lighter. Mopar emphasizes that this engine is for race/off-road use only.
