Alfa Romeo said to be working on a lightweight chassis for the new spider model that will have a curb weight of less than 1,000 kg (2200 lbs).
Alfa Romeo is planning a new spider model that will rival the likes of the Mazda MX-5 in the marketplace.
The two-seat, compact sports cabriolet will replace the discontinued Brera Spider and will also be sold in the United States. It will be powered by a four-cylinder engine from the Alfa Romeo range with around 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp).
Alfa Romeo is said to be currently working on a lightweight chassis for the spider model and aiming for a curb weight of less than 1,000 kg (2200 lbs).
