According to a recent report, the Subaru BRZ will have a 2.0-liter Boxer engine, with a unique ECU, that develops less than 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS).

According to a recent report, the Subaru BRZ will be more powerful than the Toyota FT-86.

Citing project director Toshio Masuda, AutoCar says the Subaru BRZ will have a 2.0-liter Boxer engine, with a unique ECU, that develops less than 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS). For comparison, the Toyota FT-86 is expected to have 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS).  

In related news, the magazine is reporting Subaru is considering a BRZ convertible but hasn't started development work as of yet.
