Takeri Concept is meant to showcase Mazda's new design language as well as where the Japanese automaker is headed with the next-generation Mazda6.

Mazda has unveiled the Takeri Concept ahead of its debut at the 2011 Tokyo motor show in December.

The Takeri Concept is a mid-sized sedan meant to showcase Mazda's new design language (KODO) and where Mazda is headed with the next-generation Mazda6.

The KODO, 'soul of motion', design paradigm is intended to create a more emotional impact in vehicle styling which ties into Mazda's SKYACTIV technologies that are also featured here.

Those will include a new regenerative braking system previewed on the Takeri as well as a 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D diesel engine with 175 PS (173 bhp / 129 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.

The third-generation Mazda6 will hit the market in spring 2013.
