David Besnard just barely escaped the bursting flames from his crashed V8 Supercar during the 1000 kilometer race in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia last weekend.

Traveling at more than 230 km/h (143 mph), Besard lost control due to brake failure on the 112th lap, pitching the touring car into the wall rear end first and rupturing the vehicle's fuel cell. As spilled fuel on the track ignited, Besard unstrapped himself and walked away from the car in flames without a scratch.

Circumstances could have turned much worse if it wasn't for the fast acting marshals who were on the scene in seconds.
