Designed to slot between the Fabia and Octavia, the Rapid has two 1.6-liter engines with 105 PS (77 kW / 103 hp).

Skoda has quietly started building the new Rapid in Pune, India. Intended for the Indian market, Skoda has given no indication that the model will be sold outside of the sub-continent.

Designed to slot between the Fabia and Octavia (aka Laura), the Rapid has conservative styling with "perfect proportions" and "neatly sculptured surfaces." Overall, it measures 4.39m long, 1.70m wide and 1.47m tall.

No interior pictures were released, but Skoda says the cabin has a clean cockpit with a "focus on essentials." The latter statement implies the car is sparsely equipped, but at least the boot holds nearly 500 liters (17.6 cubic feet) of luggage.

Under the hood, two engines are available. Both displace 1.6-liters and have an output of 105 PS (77 kW / 103 hp), but one is petrol while the other is a diesel.
