Volkswagen has announced the 2012 up! will be priced from £7,995 in the United Kingdom.

For this paltry sum, the model is equipped with a 60 PS (44 kW / 60 hp) 1.0-liter petrol engine that is connected to a five-speed manual transmission. The standard equipment list is pretty sparse, but includes body-colored bumpers, daytime running lights, a CD player and 14-inch steel wheels.

At £8,970, the Move trim level features remote central locking, air conditioning and power windows. An additional £360 adds a start/stop system which enables the model to average an estimated 67.2 mpg UK (55.9 mpg US or 4.2 L/100km).

Should that fail to impress you, there's also a High edition which boasts a more powerful 75 PS (55 kW / 75 hp) 1.0-liter engine. Other highlights include heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an infotainment system and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Lastly, the special edition Black and White are based on the High trim level and feature chrome mirror caps, unique seat upholstery and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The car is currently available for order and deliveries are scheduled to occur in the spring of 2012.
