Recall includes the Golf, Jetta and Audi A3 models. Problems stem from cracks that develop in the fuel lines.

VW of America is recalling 168,275 VW and Audi brand vehicles due to faulty fuel injectors in certain diesel models.

The vehicles recalled include the 2009-2012 Jetta 2.0 liter TDI, 2010-2012 Golf 2.0 liter TDI and the 2010-2012 Audi A3 2.0 liter TDI.

According to documents VW filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), vibrations in the fuel-injectors may cause cracks to form in the fuel lines which can lead to a fire hazard. VW says it has had no reports of fires or accidents with regard to the faulty injectors.

VW says it will install new dampers in the recalled vehicles to reduce vibration and replace fuel injector lines where needed.
