The on and off development of the Honda NSX has led many fans to give up hope of a revival, but a new report is indicating the car could be launched by 2014.

Citing an anonymous source, Auto Express is reporting the NSX will be inspired by the Acura roadster concept which will debut in the upcoming Avengers movie. However, an Acura spokesperson previously stated the vehicle is a "one-off, fictional car that was made just for the movie and will not be produced."

Regardless, the magazine says the car will feature a 3.5- to 3.7-liter V6 engine which will be supplemented by two electric motors. It remains unclear how this setup will work, but rumors suggest the V6 would power the rear wheels while the electric motors turn the front.

If everything pans out, the aluminum-bodied NSX would battle the Nissan GT-R and be priced at roughly £65,000 ($100,345 / €75,290).
