Jaguar previewed the upcoming XE with the C-X16 Concept at the Frankfurt motor show last week.

A group of Jaguar prototypes have been brought to a test facility near the Nürburgring and the model spied here doing some rounds around the ring is a 2013 XE mule.

At the Frankfurt show we've seen the C-X16 Concept and, although Jaguar hasn't confirmed it yet, they plan on building a model based on it which is widely assumed to be this XE here.

The XE is a shorter wheelbase version of the XK and what we're also seeing here is a mule with changes to the front and rear fascias to give the XE its own identity.

The 2013 XE will be a two-seater coupe that will also come with a cabriolet variant. It will be a competitor to models such as the Porsche Cayman.
