Volkswagen has quietly introduced the Beetle R concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Ready for action, the concept has an aggressive front fascia, a ventilated hood and a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Other highlights include a four-tailpipe exhaust system, blue brake calipers and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with Nappa leather sport seats, gloss black trim and a revised instrument cluster. There's also aluminum pedals, R-branded sill plates and special floor mats.

Volkswagen declined to release performance specifications, but hinted the car could post similar numbers to the Golf R and Scirocco R.
