The worst kept secret in Italy is now official: Lamborghini will build the Sesto Elemento concept.

Set to be launched in early 2013, the track-only model will feature a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine with 570 PS (419 kW / 562 hp) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. It will be connected to an e.gear transmission which sends power to an all-wheel drive system. This will enable the 999 kg (2,202 lb) supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph).

According to Lamborghini President Stephan Winkelmann, "The excellent feedback and the numerous requests we've had from our customers have really convinced us to embark on the challenge of producing a vehicle with unique characteristics. We are proud that what a year ago was just a ‘technology demonstrator' of future super sports cars, even though in working order, will become a small series reality."

There's no word on pricing, but production will be limited to 20 units.
