Still not-ready for prime-time FT-86 project releases its latest Subaru iteration at the Frankfurt motor show.

Subaru has brought its latest iteration of the FT-86 project - the Subaru BRZ Prologue - to the Frankfurt motor show.

The full name of the not-quite-a-concept/not-quite-a-production car is Subaru BRZ Prologue - Boxer Sports Car Architecture II.

The 'architecture' refers to the new 2.0 liter Boxer engine the BRZ will be sporting when it finally goes to production in the spring of 2012.

And Subaru has provided some specs on the car, if not the output numbers on that new power unit.

The BRZ measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,770 mm wide and stands 1,270 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,570 mm.

The rear-wheel drive (RWD) sports coupe will also feature Toyota's direct-injection technology, called D-4S, on that naturally-aspirated 2.0 liter horizontally-opposed Boxer engine.
