Touring variant of the upcoming, next-generation 3-Series spied showing a very 5-Series like styling.
These are the latest spy shots of the upcoming, next-generation 2012 BMW 3-Series Touring.
This time the model is spied in white, and wearing a little less camouflage. We get a sense from these pics of how much bigger the car is than the current 3er. Looking at that shot of the rear hatch you could say this was a 5-Series and the next 3-Series will indeed be very close in styling to the 5er.
The 2012 BMW 3-Series will be 2 inches (5.1 cm) longer than the current model and offer a range of engines including a new turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol configured to outputs of 184 PS (135 kW / 181 hp) and 245 PS (180 kW / 241 hp). The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six gets bumped up to 320 PS (315 hp (235 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque while a hybrid variant will also join the lineup coupling a turbocharged 3.0-liter petrol and a 54 PS (40 kW / 54 hp) electric motor.
For the diesels, we can expect a 2.0-liter unit with outputs of 143 PS (105 kW / 141 hp) and 184 PS (135 kW / 181 hp) as well as variously configured 3.0 liter units.
