According to a recent report, Porsche is developing two versions of their upcoming four-cylinder engine.

A new report is revealing details about Porsche's four-cylinder engine.

According to Autoweek, the new boxer engine will be based on the company's six-cylinder engine and feature a light-pressure turbocharger as well as direct injection. Two versions are reportedly being created with displacements of 2.0- and 2.5-liters. The latter variant is expected to have a maximum output of 380 hp (283 kW / 385 PS).

As we have previously reported, the engine is being built for the upcoming entry-level roadster and could see use in the next-generation Boxster and Cayman.
