MINI has announced the Cooper Goodwood will be priced from $52,000 in the United States. This staggering amount makes the special edition more expensive than the BMW 535i and almost 2.5 times as costly as the standard Cooper S.

To justify the premium price tag, the car has an exclusive Diamond Black exterior, premium leather upholstery, Walnut Burr trim and piano black accents. Other highlights include a cashmere headliner, lambswool floor mats and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds.

Only 140 units will be built for the United States and deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
