Yesterday, Hyundai USA issued a tweet that read:
"We're in the final stages of ride/handling tuning for the 2012 Azera, and it's dialing in nicely. Look out for it at the LA Auto Show. -jfk"
We expect the 2012 U.S.-market Azera to hold very close to the design of the Korean-market Grandeur (pictured here above), which was unveiled in January. It will be slotted above the Sonata and below the Genesis in the Hyundai lineup.
Possible U.S.-spec power plants include the 333 bhp (248 kW / 338 PS) 3.8-liter V6 and the 274 bhp (204 kW / 278 PS) 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger.
In Korea, the model is offered with the Lambda II 3.0 liter GDI (direct-injection) featuring 270 PS (266 bhp / 199 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque, as well as the Theta II 2.4 liter GDI with 201 PS (198 bhp / 148 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque.
Interesting initials, JFK, for whoever is tweeting for Hyundai USA.
