The Maybach saga could be coming to a close as Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has declared July 1st will become a day of reckoning.
Speaking at a recent press event, Zetsche confirmed the company has held discussions with Aston Martin about a potential tie-up and stated "there is a higher likelihood to come to a positive decision" on Maybach's future if a partner can be found. Additionally, Dr. Z revealed the company has already created a concept for the next-generation Maybach but hasn't decided on whether or not the model will be produced.
More interestingly, the CEO confirmed that is was a mistake to spend nearly a billion dollars (€697 million) to launch Maybach noting "it was not a good investment for a small-volume vehicle."
