Opel has unveiled the new Zafira Tourer - a larger, more opulent variant of its still current Zafira model.

The wheelbase on the Zafira Tourer is now 2,760 mm (57 mm longer), with a wider front track of 1,584 mm (+ 96 mm), and a 78 mm increase - to 1,588 mm - at the rear, too.

The new Flex7 seating system also offers greater cabin comfort than the standard Zafira. The two third-row seats still fold down for a larger luggage area, but the second-row bench has been replaced with separate seats that can slide longitudinally by 210 mm. An optional Lounge Seating system extends that to 280 mm and allows for the middle row to also be converted into a more comfortable two-seat combination.

Engine options will include three power variants of the 2.0 CDTI diesel unit - 81 kW/110 PS, 96 kW/130 PS and 121 kW/165 PS.

On the petrol side will be the 1.4 ECOTEC turbocharged engine configured to either 88 kW/120 PS and 103 kW/140 PS.

Transmission options include both a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic. Also optional will be a stop/start system on all engine variants.

The Zafira Tourer will debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September, and will be sold alongside the current Zafira generation.
