According to Car Magazine, the luxury flagship will ride on the new MRA (Mercedes Rear-wheel drive Architecture) platform that features a four-link front suspension and standard air springs. Furthermore, the platform is highly adaptable which is a good thing considering it is slated to underpin four different body styles: a short-wheelbase sedan, a long-wheelbase sedan, a coupe and a four-seat convertible.

In the tech department, we can expect Magic Light Control (adaptive LED headlights), Magic Body Control (a system that uses two cameras to scan the road for imperfections and setup the suspension to ensure a smooth ride) and an improved COMAND system that has internet connectivity and the ability to download software updates.

Under the hood, engine options will include a 306 PS (301 hp / 225 kW) 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, a 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW) 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 and a V12 with 552 PS (544 hp / 406 kW). On the AMG side, there will be a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 525 PS (518 hp /386 kW) as well as a range-topping V12 with 659 PS (650 hp / 485 kW). Besides the petrol options, we can expect the usual diesels as well as a plug-in hybrid and possibly a pure electric powertrain.
