New Chinese-market Tiida previews the next global Nissan Versa due in 2014. The new Tiida goes on sale in China next month.

This is the new Nissan Tiida hatchback for the Chinese market. The Japanese automaker unveiled it today to media attending the Auto Shanghai show.

The new Tiida also previews the 2014 Nissan Versa, the more globally-known name of the car model.

Details are few on the new vehicle, but the Tiida gets a longer wheelbase than its predecessor by 100 mm (3.9 inches), and will eventually feature one of the first turbo-charged engines in the Chinese market. Nissan plans to introduce a turbo series for the vehicle later in its cycle.

The Tiida also gets a new Xtronic CVT transmission, which is expected to deliver better fuel-economy.

The new Chinese-market Tiida goes on sale in late May in that country.
