Built for your most important race: life.
Lewis Hamilton is best known for his skills to be fast on the track and it’s not really a surprise that Mercedes-AMG asked him to be part of a new video campaign for the GT 4-Door Coupe. What’s really surprising, however, in this new video ad is the companion Hamilton is enjoying – he finds himself with three giant soft toys in the latest and greatest sports sedan from the German company.
Driving the four-door coupe-style sedan, Hamilton is racing a quartet of really fast AMGs – a Mercedes-AMG GT3, a Mercedes-AMG GT4, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, and a Mercedes-AMG GT S. It’s natural to assume he is having a lot of fun, or at least much more than in his Pagani Zonda.
For those who still think the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the Affalterbach-based AMG division’s first-ever four-door model, is just a more powerful CLS, than you are probably missing the idea of this car. Simply put, the CLS ends where the GT 4-Door Coupe begins – in terms of design, technologies, power, price, and virtually anything you can think of.
It’s also one the most expensive new Mercedes-Benz models money can buy in the company’s domestic market. Already available to order in Germany, the “base” GT 63 costs at least €150,118 (about $175,000 at the current exchange rates), while the GT 63 S retails for €167,016 ($195,000). There’s an even more expensive Edition 1 model, which is priced at €185,342 ($216,150) and will be offered in the next 12 months. Just for a comparison, a Mercedes-AMG S63 Sedan costs €161,423.
Mercedes-AMG is proud to say its new model combines “unique design, high comfort, and outstanding sports car engineering with an athletic, four-door fastback layout.” This should offer customers more space and more potential uses – from an everyday comfortable ride to a weekend track beast.
