Spotted wearing heavy camouflage, the redesigned model features a sloping roofline, a Picanto-inspired front fascia and distinctive taillights.
Engine options remain a bit of a mystery, but the leading candidate is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 131 lb-ft (177 Nm) of torque. It will likely be connected to a six-speed manual transmission (or an optional six-speed automatic), which will enable the car to achieve 40+ mpg highway.
The Kia Rio is slated to be unveiled later this year as a 2012 model year, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.
