Ford has released the first teaser image of the 2012 Focus EV, ahead of its unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Ford has released the first teaser image of the 2012 Focus EV, ahead of its unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in a few days, and not the Detroit Motor Show next week.

While the company is mum on details, the car will feature a glowing charging port surround and plenty of EV badging. It will be powered by a 23 kWh lithium-ion battery which will enable the Focus to travel approximately 100 miles (161 km) on a single charge.

On sale later this year, the Focus EV will be available in the following markets: Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Tucson, Portland, Raleigh Durham, Richmond, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
