Toyota has debuted the facelifted 2011 Corolla model for North America at the Los Angeles auto show.
Exterior-design changes include a significantly redesigned front bumper, radiator grille, front lower grille, headlamps, trunk lid, rear license garnish, rear combination lamp, rear bumper and reflex reflector.
The new Corolla comes with a single engine offering - the 1.8 liter DOHC four-cylinder, with Dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i), producing 132 bhp (99 kW) and 128 lb-ft (173 Nm) of torque.
Transmissions available are a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The new Corolla has a mileage rating of 28 mpg city (8.4 liters/100 km) and 35 mpg (6.72 liters/100 km) highway with the manual box. Consumption is slightly better with the 4-speed automatic (26 mpg / 34 mpg).
The 2011 Corolla is offered in two trim levels - the LE and S grades. Standard technology includes Star Safety System with stability and traction control. The Corolla S comes with more sporty features including 16-inch wheels (15-inch being standard on the LE model).
The new Corolla goes on sale in the United States in December.
