Virtually identical to international versions, the US i-MiEV has been outfitted with modified bumpers, additional safety equipment, and an enlarged body structure.
Mitsubishi has announced plans to introduce the extra-large US-spec i-MiEV at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Virtually identical to international versions, the US model has been outfitted with new bumpers, additional safety equipment, and an "enlarged body structure to secure plenty of space for four adults and better meet the expectations of U.S. consumers." The latter means the US i-MiEV measures 3,680mm long, 1,585mm wide, and 1,615mm tall - increases of 285mm, 110mm, and 5mm.
Official powertrain specifications haven't been announced, but motivation will likely be provided by an electric motor with 47 kW (63 hp / 64 PS) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) of torque. The European version has a range of up to 160 km (100 miles), so it will be interesting to see how much the changes affect the car's usability.
Full details will be released on November 18th.
