According to a recent report, Chevrolet is developing a new crossover based on the redesigned Aveo.

Details are limited, but AutoCar is reporting the crossover will a ride on a stretched Aveo platform and come standard with front-wheel drive (all-wheel drive will be optional).

Styling will mimic recent Chevrolets, but there will be a greater focus on interior quality. The 'dual cockpit' design will carry over, but the crossover will adopt Opel switchgear and a new high-tech digital display.

An Opel variant will be offered as well, but GM promises the models won't be badge-engineered.

A launch could come as early as 2012.
