The company's April Fool's joke is a little gross this year.

Lexus partners with popular genomics company 23andMe for one of the creepier April Fool's jokes in recent memory. The automaker wants to build the perfect vehicle for each client, so it examines a person's DNA to pick the ideal model and options for each buyer. Taking personal preference out of the car buying experience is unpleasant, especially in a way that seems straight out of the show Black Mirror

Lexus calls this fictitious program Genetic Select, and the company shows it off in the video above. A buyer shows up at the dealer and spits into a vial. A few days later, the a new car arrives, and it features the specific options that fit the customer's DNA. Some of the fake upgrades on display in Lexus' video include larger cup holders, tinted glass, and custom-configured seats.

There are weirder tweaks, too. For example, the DNA indicates the buyer has a short stature, so her RC F comes with a lowered suspension. It knows her favorite smell, so the cabin has the aroma of lavender and cauliflower, which seems nauseating. She wears glasses for nearsightedness, so the windshield matches her prescription.

Oddest of all, the vehicle also responds to the buyer's DNA. For extra security, the owner licks the steering wheel to start the engine. At least this way, there's no concern about anyone stealing your car. 

Automakers have been fairly slow to roll out their April Fool's Day jokes this year. The only other major one has been Honda's presentation of a CR-V Roadster. It's actually a pretty neat idea but don't expect to see a topless CR-V on the road at any point in the foreseeable future.

Genetic Select will be available starting April 1 at Lexus dealerships. The landmark innovation can accurately predict—based on the driver’s DNA—which vehicle is the right choice. For example, if the customer does not have a genetic variant for bald spots, the car will come equipped with a sun roof. Or those genetically prone to more freckles will receive custom window tinting. In fact, 23andMe’s understanding of genetic variants is so precise, Genetic Select will enable Lexus to deliver the perfect color, trim, horsepower allotment, seating configuration, and radio presets, within a 99.99967 percent degree of accuracy. It will be impossible to tell where the driver ends and where the car begins.

“Lexus has always obsessed over crafting an individual experience for customers, both in selecting their vehicle, as well as in the ownership process,” said Cooper Ericksen, Lexus vice president of marketing. “Exceeding customers’ expectations is in the Lexus DNA. Now, we’re taking it to the next level by tapping into our customers’ DNA, too.”

The Genetic Select appointment takes about 10 minutes and doesn’t involve a single signature or question. Lexus’ service staff will collect a saliva sample and send it off to 23andMe for sequence testing. Within 48 hours, the perfect vehicle will arrive at the customer’s doorstep. The driver won’t even need a key to operate it—the revolutionary new saliva-powered start-system operates via a DNA ignition sensor on the steering wheel. Just lick and drive. Customers can make their appointments at their local Lexus dealerships starting April 1.
